More for the Storm

Here is another modular asset for DarkStorm. This metal structure will be used to support long segments of catwalks and other architectural segments. This object can run in a row or be used as standing towers when rotated. (bottom left corner)

Modular Wall Assets

Here are a few modular wall assets I have made for the game Dark Storm. Decals are to be added to these objects in UDK for some extra pizzazz!

Arm Yourself

When I started this blog in Februrary I began by posting drawings. It seems we were long overdue for some more drawing!
P.S. The guy in the corner wants to arm wrestle you.

In-Progress: Game Assets

Low poly models of a curved_floor segment and a helicopter pad / platform that moves along rails.

These assets are for a game project being developed in UDK. The level artists needed to populate their scenes quickly for the next build to be play tested. This meant returning to a more traditional workflow; low poly first then the Zbrush fun. The helipad will dock into this curved floor segment.

Creature Features of a Cat, but also of a Stingray

A creature sketch in which I recall characteristics of a sting ray I had sculpted some time ago.

Coffee and Zbrush Before Work

Coffee and Zbrush before work. Sometimes you get that coffee jitter and this happens.

Brawny, Ballpoint and a Sharpy or two.

Here are a few drawings I made while having a Ayinger Brau Weisse. They told me a previous drawing hangs in their kitchen; I am happy they enjoy my drawing. Drawings left for bar staff.

My New Intuos Pro Professional

So it has been long overdue that I upgraded from my Intuos2. I am really enjoying exploring a new workflow. All the customization that can be performed with my new tablet is expansive. Here is a quick drawing while using the new tablet wirelessly; nifty feature.

Average Joe

Here is a model I will be reworking before it goes on my webpage. I have a game resolution version that is UV mapped and textured (normal, specular, and color) and will be finalizing these textures shortly. Here is the basic sculpture, the game resolution model has hair.

A Gift

Here is a copy after a Spanish drawing by Antonio del CASTILLO. This drawing is for my mother and now hangs in the families computer room. Medium of choice, the trusty BIC ballpoint.

Napkin Brothers

Sometimes there is no substitute for a good ol' napkin to get a doodle out. Some napkins like to tear easily; this makes for a good exercise in being gentle and controlled with ones lines.

Saturday, March 15, 2014

This past Sunday I attended the Drawing Social @ Artist for Art Gallery in Scranton, PA. There was live music and other artists producing drawings. Here are a few of the drawings I made while being entertained by Walter Prez and The Awesome. Drawings done using a Conte Crayon in a scrapbook. The paper provided a bit too much resistance for my liking. Have a gander!

Zbrush Head Sketch

I figured we had a good rash of drawings so far, time for some 3d. Here is a head sketch with a focus on contour of form. While producing this sculpture, an imagined sense of tactile feedback or 'touch sense' as Harold Speed might put it was exercised.

Cylinders, Cubes, Structure

In these drawings I am using cylinders and cubes to help imagine the directions the mass conceptions point in space.

This second set of drawings are a bit more calculated and are used as an exercise in "seeing-through" as well as developing methods of construction.

Anatomical Shorthand

Drawings made utilizing information from both Robert Beverly Hale and Michael Mentler. In these drawings the goal is to reduce the figures complexity so it is easily remembered. This information has enabled me to construct the figure with confidence and to do so with speed. Yes, I draw on napkins.

Digital Doodle

I have such a fun time doodle'n in photoshop. It is always good to let loose and draw freely for a moment. Sessions like this can be likened to musicians practicing scales.

After the artist

A couple copies after the artist. The figure on the left is Giuseppe Cesari "Studies for a Flagellation of Christ". The right figure is after Michelangelo Buonarroti "Study for the Creation of Adam". Done with one of my favorites mediums, the trusty Bic Ballpoint Pen.

Flex it

Starting with this post I am sharing a series of all my drawings made while working security and otherwise during my free time. Gotta keep the mind active while working security.

This is a portrait of an imagined individual. The production of this model is based solely on my understanding of the human head; free of reference.
